Calcium D Redoxon (CDR) is a supplement to meet calcium needs, so that it can keep bones strong. This supplement contains calcium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin D.

In addition to maintaining bone strength, CDR can also be used to help meet the needs of vitamins and minerals during growth or recovery during illness, as well as to treat food absorption disorders.

CDR can also be used to meet the calcium needs of pregnant and lactating women.

Each CDR tablet contains 250 mg calcium (in the form of calcium carbonate 625 mg), vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 1,000 mg, vitamin D 300 UI, and vitamin B6 15 mg. CDR is available in two flavors, namely orange and fruit punch . The CDR is for women and men under 40 years of age and pregnant or breastfeeding women.

CDR Fortos

Each CDR Fortos tablet contains 600 mg calcium (in the form of 1,500 mg calcium carbonate) and 400 IU of vitamin D. Fortos CDR is intended for women and men over the age of 40 and pregnant or lactating women.

Calcium carbonate contained in the CDR for pregnant and lactating women Category C : Studies in experimental animals show an adverse effect on the fetus, but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women. The drug should only be used if the expected benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. The calcium carbonate in the CDR can be absorbed into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, do not use this medicine without consulting your doctor first.

Warning Before Consuming Calcium D Redoxon (CDR)

Although CDR is categorized as an over-the-counter drug, this supplement should not be used carelessly. Before taking CDR, you need to pay attention to the following things:

  • Do not consume CDR if you are allergic to calcium or other ingredients in this product.
  • CDR contains artificial sweeteners, namely aspartame and acesulfame. Do not take CDR if you have phenylketonuria .
  • If the CDR contains calcium carbonate, consult your doctor if you have or have had heart disease, high levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia), cancer , or parathyroid gland disorders , or kidney disease, including kidney stones .
  • Consult your doctor about using the CDR if you are pregnant, nursing, or planning a pregnancy.
  • Consult your doctor about using the CDR if you are currently taking certain medications, supplements or herbal products.
  • Immediately see a doctor if an allergic drug reaction or overdose occurs after consuming CDR.

Dosage and Rules for Using Calcium D Redoxon (CDR)

The dosage for CDR and CDR Fortos is 1 effervescent tablet per day. If you have certain medical conditions, first discuss with your doctor to find out the dosage and duration of using the supplement according to your condition and needs.

Calcium Nutrient Adequacy Rate

CDR contains calcium, the following is the amount of calcium needed per day based on age, sex, and nutritional adequacy rate (RDA):

  • Men ages 19–70: 1,000 mg
  • Men aged ≥71 years: 1,200 mg
  • Women ages 19–50: 1,000 mg
  • Women age ≥51 years: 1,200 mg
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women: 1,000–1,300 mg

In addition, in adults aged 10-50 years, the maximum limit for calcium consumption is 2,500 mg per day. As for adults aged over 51 years, the maximum limit is 2,000 mg per day. For pregnant and lactating women, the maximum limit for calcium consumption is 2,500–3,000 mg per day.

How to Take Calcium D Redoxon (CDR) Correctly

Before consuming CDR, read the usage instructions listed on the product packaging. If you are in doubt or have certain medical conditions, first discuss with your doctor about using this supplement.

CDR can be consumed before or after meals. For sufferers of achlorhydria , it is advisable to take calcium supplements with food for better absorption.

To take this supplement, dissolve the CDR effervescent tablet in a glass of water. Drink immediately after the tablet has dissolved in water.

Please note, vitamin and mineral supplements are only consumed to complement the body's need for vitamins and minerals, especially when the intake of vitamins and minerals from food cannot meet the body's needs.

Some examples of foods and drinks high in calcium are cheese, yogurt, milk, green leafy vegetables, such as spinach and broccoli, as well as soybeans and wheat.

Calcium supplements are recommended for several groups of people, such as vegetarians , people with lactose intolerance, digestive disorders, people who often consume a lot of salt, or patients who take corticosteroid drugs in the long term.

Pregnant women also need to take calcium supplements to help the development of bones, teeth, nervous system, and the formation of fetal organs. Adequate calcium requirements during pregnancy can also reduce the risk of hypertension in pregnancy and preeclampsia .

Store CDR at room temperature and in a dry place out of direct sunlight. Keep CDR out of reach of children.

Interaction of Calcium D Redoxon (CDR) with Other Drugs

There are some interactions that can occur when calcium supplements are used with certain medications. The interaction is in the form of a decrease in the effectiveness of the drugs levothyroxine , aspirin, and iron supplements. To be safe, always tell your doctor about any medications, supplements, or herbal products you're taking

Side Effects and Dangers of Calcium D Redoxon (CDR)

If used as directed, CDR and calcium supplements are generally safe. In some people, sometimes complaints of bloating or belching may appear after taking this supplement.

If calcium supplements are taken in excess of the maximum intake limit, hypercalcemia can occur which is characterized by excessive thirst, nausea or vomiting , muscle weakness, fatigue, bone pain, or irregular heartbeat.

Check with your doctor if you experience the above symptoms or an allergic drug reaction after taking CDR or other calcium supplements.
