Molnupiravir

Molnupiravir

Molnup i ravir is an antiviral drug that can be used in the treatment of Corona virus infection or COVID-19. The use of molnupiravir is intended for COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms who are at high risk of worsening to severe symptoms .

Molnupiravir works by disrupting the work of the Corona virus RNA enzyme which is needed to reproduce. That way, the virus does not multiply and is more easily eradicated by the immune system.

Molnupiravir has received an emergency use permit from the BPOM. The results of the third phase of clinical trials showed that the use of molnupiravir was able to reduce the risk of worsening symptoms or death in COVID-19 patients who had co- morbidities .
