Isotretinoin is a retinoid. which means Isotretinoin is derived from Vitamin A. The chemical name of Isotretinoin is 13-cis retinoic acid. Isotretinoin is a very effective remedy for acne. Usually used to treat severe acne when other therapies have failed

Isotretinoin works in treating acne by shrinking the sebaceous glands and reducing sebum production. Isotretinoin is anti-inflammatory and is able to remove blackheads. Isotretinoin is only given in cases of severe acne, acne scarring, moderate acne that has nothing to do with other medications and every other case of acne. Isotretinoin can also be used for several other conditions including folliculitis, seborrhoea, chloracne and other ailments that look like acne.

Indication
Isotretinoin is only given in cases of severe acne, acne scarring, moderate acne that has nothing to do with other medications and every other case of acne.

Dose
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 0.5 mg/kg per day. If necessary, the dose may be increased to 1 mg/kg per day. Generally consumed for 4-6 months

Presentation
Isotretinoin in capsule form must be taken in its entirety. It is not recommended to chew or crush the capsule before swallowing.

It is a good idea to take isotretinoin with meals. Absorption of the drug into the bloodstream is better when isotretinoin is taken with food
